Jubilation is a New Jersey based singing aggregation that just celebrated its 12th anniversary. And what a celebration! The year has been marked with extraordinary events. In February, the group’s participation on the EMI compilation CD, “Oh Happy Day” (with Queen Latifah) earned them a Grammy! The song also received a nomination for a Dove Award.
The group is no stranger to the limelight. Back in 2002, the choir gained international acclaim, touring Japan in July 2002 and 2004, where they ministered in several cities. The choir also participated at the 2002 US Open Tennis tournament and had the honor of singing at the funeral of Jazz great, Lionel Hampton. That same year, the choir recorded “live” with musical genius, Ray Charles, yielding the classic: “Ray Charles Celebrates a Gospel Christmas with the Voices of Jubilation” (released November 2003). A Deluxe Edition CD/DVD released in Winter 2004, climbed to #2 on the BILLBOARD Gospel Charts.
The choir is now preparing for a new CD, “It’s Just Church” scheduled for release in 2010. The CD will feature a musical mix inclusive of praise and worship, message music, traditional and contemporary Gospel songs and hymns. Reverend Stefanie R. Minatee is Jubilation’s founder and Artistic Director.
